Mrauk U
The archaeological city of Mrauk U is located near the western border and is Myanmar's second-largest temple center, after Bagan. The temples here are built of bricks and stones, unlike the temples built of mud bricks and clay in Bagan.
Coming here, you will admire the remaining 15th-century temples built with bricks and stones, hidden in the hills and small villages. In particular, you will feel like this place is a land of legends because the fog covers the whole city in the morning. You can also visit riverside villages to experience a more exciting sense of adventure.
Typical temples in Mrauk U that you can visit are Shite-thaung, Htukkanthein, Koe-thaung, Andaw-thein, Lemyethna, and Ratana. The most majestic and archaeologically significant of these is Shite-thaung Pagoda.
An exciting experience for those who want to explore the nostalgic Mrauk U is the activities of the people here taking place right in the middle of these ancient temples and pagodas. From images of goatherds on the hillsides to farmers working in the fields, or images of women drawing water from wells among ancient temples, this creates a rare scene.
Coming to Mrauk U, you will enjoy a peaceful and relaxing space. Through many years, this place has still retained its nostalgic and simple features. And don't forget the attractive image of this city in the mist every morning; it will be very wonderful.
Through historical ups and downs and the effects of nature and time, many temples in Mrauk U are gradually and seriously damaged. However, with tens of thousands of Buddha statues and countless Buddhist architectural works with bold Indian colors immersed in magical mist, Mrauk U will make any visitor coming here feel like he is lost in a real fairy garden.
In Mrauk U, everything seems old and ancient, especially when this city has been forgotten for a long time. Therefore, you will feel the desolation, but don't worry too much; there are interesting and mysterious things waiting for you to discover!
Mrauk U is known as the "forgotten" paradise in Myanmar because there is no airport and the only way you can get here is by boat, which takes about 7 to 8 hours. This place does not have as many exciting and dynamic activities as other attractive Myanmar tourist destinations, but you will experience a completely unique feeling when coming here: a feeling of peace and relaxation. Coming here to leave behind the chaos and worries of life out there.
