Baggage policy

If you are traveling solely on Myanmar airline’s ﬂight for the whole of your journey, please familiarize yourself with our baggage rules as follows:

I. Checked baggage

Each flight ticket has its own Free Baggage Allowance policy and you may be required to pay for an excess fee if your connecting flight with other airlines has a lower baggage allowance.

Passengers travelling with a wheelchair, crutches or any other orthopedic tools may carry this free of charge.
The number of pieces of checked baggage is unlimited.

II. Hand baggage

1. Each passenger can take one piece of hand baggage aboard. Hand baggage may not exceed the dimensions 58 x 34 x 23 cm. The maximum permitted weight of hand baggage is 7kg.

2. In addition to the baggage mentioned above, you may also take the following onto the aircraft with you:

a coat
an umbrella,
a walking stick/crutches,
a camera,
binoculars,
a reasonable quantity of books and magazines,
a baby basket or folding pushchair
a suitable quantity of baby food.

Any item exceeding the free carry-on baggage allowance must be checked in.

III. Excess Baggage Rate Charge

Excess baggage will be charged when the weight of baggage exceeds the weigh of baggage allowance for respective ticket class.
Excess baggage charge will be calculated per kilo.

IV. Sport equipments

Sport equipments will be accepted as a part of free baggage allowance. In excess, normal excess baggage charge will be applied:

Diving Equipment	The diving equipment shall be recognized as such (diving suit, vest, and goggles). One empty oxygen bottle is allowed.
Golf Bag	A golf bag is considered to consist of one set of golf clubs (14 Nos.), a maximum of 12 golf balls and one pair of shoes.
Surfboards	Not applicable
Sporting Weapons and Ammunition for Sporting Purpose	The carriage of sporting weapons and ammunition for sporting purpose is subject to approval by the state/local security and MAI shall only be allowed to hold the loaded baggage. An exception to this rule shall only be made for when Security Officers of the State's Personnel and Security Department is involved.

V. Restricted Items

For security reasons, certain objects are forbidden in hand luggage:

Neutralizing devices	devices designed specifically to stun or immobilize;
Sharp objects	objects, due to its sharp tip or its sharp edges can be used to cause serious injuries
Working tools	tools that can be used to cause serious injury or threaten the safety of the aircraft
Blunt instruments	objects that can cause serious injury if used to harm someone physically
Explosives and incendiary substances and devices	materials and explosives or incendiary devices capable, or appearing capable, of being used to cause serious injury or threaten the safety of the aircraft;
Liquids, Aerosols and Gels
ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES	An electronic cigarette or e-cigarette is an electronic device that is designed to simulate the act of smoking. The devices usually have three elements in common: mouthpiece (cartridge) heating element (atomising chamber) battery (usually a rechargeable lithium ion battery and an electronic LED system that emits colored light).
PORTABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICES (PEDS)	Electronic devices may cause interference with navigation or communication system of the aircraft on which they are used. PED should not be used during takeoff and landing and should be properly stowed similarly to other carry-on luggage.

VI. Right to refuse carriage

The carrier may refuse to carry as Baggage the items described in Article V, and we may refuse further carriage of any such items upon discovery that it is included in your Baggage. Unless advance arrangements for its carriage have been made with us, we may carry on later flights Baggage, which is in excess of the applicable free allowance.

The carrier may refuse to accept Baggage as Checked Baggage unless it is properly and securely packed in suitcases and suitable containers to ensure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling.
