Bagan
Although not as famous as Yangon, Bagan is still a popular destination for tourists, thanks to its mysterious beauty and harmony between nature and architecture. It is not an exaggeration to say that the sunrise in Bagan is one of the breathtaking landscapes that you need to admire at least once in your life.
About 9 hours by bus from Yangon and about 145km southwest of Mandalay is Bagan, the city that was the capital of the Pagan dynasty from the 9th to the 13th centuries. This place is famous for possessing a series of magnificent Buddhist temples and pagodas (estimated at more than 2,200 large and small temples in an area of only 100 km2). The temples built during the Pagan dynasty were also a major turning point, marking the development of Buddhism in this country.
Besides many classic and impressive architectural blocks, those who travel to Bagan on their own cannot help but admire the extremely "miraculous" natural landscape, such as the warm sunlight embracing the ancient tower or the endless hot air balloons floating among the floating clouds.
In addition to the temples, visitors can also enjoy a relaxing trip on the Ayeyarwady River, the lifeblood of Myanmar. Cruise from Mandalay to Bagan and enjoy the riverside vegetation, soothing river breezes, and, not to mention, the sights and sounds of riverside life. You'll also be able to admire the fascinating views of Mount Sagaing, Pakokku, Myingyan, and other locations along the way.
The country of Myanmar, with a coastline stretching over 2,000 km, has not been exploited much, so the beaches here still almost retain their original wild beauty. When traveling to Myanmar, there is nothing more enjoyable than resting on the charming beaches of the Bay of Bengal, especially Ngapali Beach, only 45 minutes by car from Yangon.
Although Myanmar cuisine is heavily influenced by India, China, Thailand, and the culinary cultures of many ethnic minorities, the dishes here still have their own attractive characteristics. Not only are Myanmar dishes delicious, they are also sophisticated in preparation and, especially, very cheap. If you have the opportunity to come to Yangon or Bangan, take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy unique street foods such as tea and flat bread, Nangyi thoke, samosa salad, Shan noodles, grilled food, and fragrant curry rice.
Similar to other Southeast Asian countries, Myanmar only has rainy and dry seasons. The rainy season lasts from June to October, leading to difficulty in traveling, few festivals, cultural events, etc., so you should limit traveling to Bagan during this time. From March to May is also not the ideal time to go to Bagan on your own. The cause is prolonged hot weather. To admire Bagan at its most brilliant, you should visit here around November and February of the following year.
